Reducing compliance review time

A £2bn AUM wealth manager wanted faster file reviews without trading away rigour. Palindrome was fine-tuned on the firm's own methodology, evidence now surfaces against every check, traceable to source, with the reviewer's judgement kept at the centre.

"You'd think it was my birthday. The product Palindrome has built has genuinely exceeded expectations."

Head of Compliance

File reviews at the firm sat squarely on the second line of defence, but the work itself was first-principles every time: open the case, hunt for evidence across documents and the CRM, judge whether each requirement had been met, and write up the rationale. Two hours per file was the steady-state. With volume growing, scaling meant either more headcount or sacrificing depth.

Off-the-shelf compliance tools missed the firm's own framework. Generic LLM tools could not be trusted to land their evidence reliably.

Palindrome was fine-tuned on the firm's own compliance methodology and on the FCA handbooks the firm maps to. Out of the box, the platform runs over 200 checks. COBS, SYSC, PRIN, CASS, and the firm's framework was layered on top, replacing nothing of the existing judgement model.

Crucially, every check produces evidence, and every piece of evidence carries a citation back to the source document. The reviewer keeps the call. Palindrome eliminates the manual search and the manual writing-up.

Two-hour reviews now finish in 30 minutes, a four-fold reduction. Reviewer judgement is unchanged, but the floor under reviewer judgement is firmer because evidence is consistent and complete. Second-line capacity went from rate-limited to scalable.
